SHUTDOWN SUPPORT TAR 2019 IN CHEMICALS INDUSTRY

Duration: 2 years Disciplines: Piping & Mechanical, workpreparation
Ineos phenol
Petrochemie

COMPANY PROFILE

With an annual production of 680,000 tonnes, our Antwerp-based customer is the world’s biggest producer of phenol and an established name in the chemicals industry. Every three years, a turnaround takes place to carry out work and inspections that cannot be performed while plants are operating. This turnaround has to be meticulously prepared and followed up to prevent delay and therefore a production stoppage.

THE ASSIGNMENT

During the turnaround, Bennet undertook tasks as area manager, piping-mechanical, of the utilities department. This meant that we were responsible for the construction supervision, inspection and all the coordination.

The plant was divided into various zones, each led by an area manager. The assignment as area manager, piping-mechanical, and area manager, projects, involved following up and adjusting the scheduled jobs and projects in the field. On a daily basis, first-line problems were resolved and the schedule was updated or adjusted in line with the feedback from the area manager.

Bennet Engineering provided support for scheduling and guiding the day-to-day periodic and non-periodic inspections, dealing with problems thrown up by a rejected inspection, putting forward suggestions for improvements and repairs, carrying out critical inspections, checking hold points, etc.

Bennet helped ensure that the turnaround was safely and properly completed on schedule and within budget. After the turnaround, the customer brought us in to take care of the day-to-day maintenance, as well. Here we provide support for the preparation of the work and construction supervision for all sorts of piping and mechanical (static) equipment assignments.
