COMPANY PROFILE

Our customer is one of Europe’s most modern tank terminals. They store and transship a wide range of chemicals and can load trucks, wagons and ships.

THE ASSIGNMENT

As part of various improvement assignments, we worked with our customer on the installation of a new water purification plant to treat polluted rain water and then discharge it into the sewers towards the dock. We directed the entire project.

The water purification plant consisted of a prefilter and an activated charcoal filter. The prefilter is designed to retain coarser and floating particles, while the activated charcoal filter will reduce the chemicals to acceptable quantities. Both filters are duplicated for safety reasons. As many explosive substances are loaded at the terminal, the water purification plant was fitted in line with ATEX. The necessary flow meter and control unit were also provided to prevent the permitted discharge standards being exceeded.
