REVAMPING FIREFIGHTING SYSTEMS
COMPANY PROFILE
Our customer – a European player – manages and processes chemical and industrial waste activities.
THE ASSIGNMENT
A lot of firefighting systems proved to be in need of replacement. This essential component for the operation of the site had to be put back in order as quickly as possible, as a lot of inflammable and explosive substances are stored and processed here.
The aim was to deal with all the problems of the firefighting systems that had accumulated over the years. As well as replacing the sprinkler systems, new extinguishing water tanks and diesel pumps had to be installed so that ordinary mains water can be used to extinguish fires and the pipelines will be far less subject to corrosion in the future.
In this context, the customer asked Bennet Engineering to provide total support for these projects, from conceptual design to engineering & design to implementation to close out.
The impact of the project was such that a phased replacement was chosen. The site was divided into five zones which were dealt with one by one.
The project calls for a great deal of flexibility and good communication with the various internal stakeholders. As it is being done in a working installation, we Bennet people have to determine a clear scope in which safety must remain guaranteed.JanProject Ingenieur
