COMPANY PROFILE

Our customer is a major player in the chemicals industry with over 50 production installations. Given the large number of installations on their site, they regularly have to make various modifications to these units. Forty or fifty such projects are completed every year.

THE ASSIGNMENT

In the projects department, they have a specific section that focuses on the current modifications to existing installations. Given the heavy workload in terms of activities, the customer asked us to provide additional support in this area.

The installation modifications vary widely, from replacing an existing instrument/piece of piping/valve to providing new measurements, laying new piping, drawing up new safety dossiers and concepts and so on. In view of our great expertise in the field of project management / engineering of various Management of Change projects, Bennet Engineering provided support for the department with its ongoing assignments. We were responsible here for all the engineering aspects, from conceptual design to the construction package for projects up to approximately EUR 300,000. The project implementation was followed up by another of the customer’s departments.

OUR APPROACH

We were responsible here for the total coordination of the activities:

  • Multi-disciplinary support for electrical & instrumentation, piping, mechanical and civil engineering
  • Assuring the interfaces between various stakeholders (piping, mechanical, maintenance, etc.)
  • Drawing up cost estimates
  • Basic engineering (adapting PID, request for quote, etc.)
  • Transfer and review of the detail engineering (detail engineering is done by an external partner)
  • Technical supervision
  • Transfer of planning with ‘implementation/construction’ department
  • Putting proposals for improvement to the plant owner
  • Field checks for the activities to be carried out
Our customer sees us as a real partner in their organisation, which makes working here very pleasant.
