Sunday is a day of habits for many people. A lie-in, fresh croissants, fresh orange juice... simply heaven! But in June there was another type of Sunday, the Family Day.
The concept is simple: all Dixonites are invited with their +1/+2/+3/+4, etc., to spend a fun afternoon together.
D-DAY
D-Day, Dixon Day (at the time we were still called Dixon ;-) ). A blue sky, bright sunshine, 33°C – that’s all we needed for a perfect start to the day. Everyone turned up at Strantwerpen in boho-chic outfits. A summery site in the Linkeroever district on the left bank of the Scheldt, where we could view the city from the other side for a change. When they arrived, people were given the right props – sun hats, summery garlands – and could have a fun photo taken with the family. And of course they got a delicious welcome drink!
While everyone was enjoying a friendly chat over a drink and snacks, a copious buffet was prepared. A buffet brimming with heavenly meat, mussels, fresh fish and much, much more! The desserts especially went down very well with the children. There was a great ice-cream trolley where they could all decorate their ice creams with colourful toppings to their heart’s content.
As the children were able to have fun in the sand building a huge castle or a throne from Game Of Thrones, some entertainment was provided for the adults, too. Our very own Astrid and her Audioshakers got things moving and everyone instantly took off their shoes and started dancing in the sand. It really was a great event! Those who stayed away got it wrong. They missed a fantastic party.
Hopefully we can make it an annual tradition to break our habits one Sunday a year to get together for a great family day.
